History of Finnish wood processing industry (Kouvola/Mäntyharju)
The world heritage site, the Verla Groundwood and Board Mill, is a unique attraction and is only half an hour’s drive from Repovesi. At Verla, visitors can experience the early stages of the history of the wood processing industry in a living environment: an interesting guided tour of the museum brings the past to life and presents factory buildings and machines. In summer, the old stables house mill village shops and a lunch café is open in the middle of the area. Overnight stays in Verla are possible, either in the retro cottages of the 1960s holiday village, or old mill workers cottages dating back to the 1890s.
The Verla World Heritage Site is located north of Kouvola, at Verlantie 295 in Verla.
