The rocks in Repovesi are a barren habitat. Despite this, tenacious pines and species that favour hot and sunny habitats persevere on the cliffs. The open rocky slopes are exposed to the heat of the sun – species have to adapt not only to the heat, but also to drought and high variations in temperature. Rainwater falling on the cliffs is not absorbed, but flows downwards, taking nutrients with it and creating lush habitats below.
